Another day that was history making was July 21, 1974. Bill Graham brought his “Day On The Green” show to County Stadium.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were the headliners with the Beach Boys and Jesse Colin Young also on the bill. Almost 55,000 people were there and CSNY played for about 3 and a half hours.
It was the first national stadium tour put on by a rock band and was extremely successful. After having seen Neil Young and his band (the Stray Gators) and Stephen Stills & Manassas in 1973…I was thrilled to see the reunion tour and it stills rates as one of my all-time favorites. Many in the Milwaukee area didn’t like that County Stadium was used for a concert but things came off just fine and many more shows would play County Stadium in the years to come.
